1st KILSYTH BOYS BRIGADE JUNIOR SECTION

I'm sorry to say that this will be the last time I will be announcing anything concerning the Boys Brigade. The section will finish on 2 June as I am retiring and do not have anyone willing to take over the leadership.

I have been in the Boys Brigade for 37 years, with 17 of these at the Parish Church (and enjoyed every year of it).

This year we have had a bumper time with all the different events we have done:

Halloween Party

Christmas Party

Pantomime

Innoflate

Science Centre

Craft Nights

Poppy Sponsor Night

Movie Night with Chippie

Plus not 1 but 2 nights at the 10 Pin Bowling at Kirkintilloch.

All this in addition to our normal routine on BB nights.

A heartfelt thanks to all who have helped the BB throughout the years.

God Bless every one of you.

David Cameron

1st KILSYTH BOYS BRIGADE JUNIOR SECTION

The Junior Section of 1st Kilsyth Boys Brigade is now meeting on Friday evenings from 7.00pm-8.45pm. Any boy between the ages of 8 and 11 is welcome to come along on a Friday evening to find out what we do and what it's all about.

Having visited Balmalloch Primary, Kilsyth Primary and St Pat's Primary, we altered the evening from a Thursday as we discovered many young boys had football training so couldn't attend both. The school visits resulted in some new boys coming along.

Please contact us for any further information. We look forward to seeing you.

The Anchor Boys still continue to meet on a Tuesday evening between 6.15 and 7.15. We are looking for volunteers to help us with these young boys aged from 5-7. If you or anyone you know may be interested, please contact us via our home page.

August 2022

The Boys Brigade will start back on Friday 2 September.  The times are as folows:

Start at 7.00pm until 8.45pm in the large hall. All boys aged between 8 and 11 years old are welcome to join us.

We hope to give the boys a full session with outings, possibly to The Art Galleries, Innoflate, Cinema and Pantomime as well as extra activities in the hall, eg sports night, movie night (with chippie).  Everything depends on how many boys we have.

Anyone who knows boys of eligible age, please guide them our way, or contact us via the home page.

May 2022

Anchor Boys

We finished this session with a visit to Allanfauld Farm to see the sheep, lambs, cows and bulls.  the boys really enjoyed it all, but the best part was when they went into a field to see the Shepherd's collie moving the sheep about.

Junior Section

On Friday 6th May the boys received their Certificates for this Session.  Friday 13th May is the last meeting of this Session, which will be a Movie and Chippy night!

The Anchor boys moving up to the Junior Section next year will also be there to meet the Junior Section boys.

Spring 2022

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone on behalf of myself (David Cameron) and all the boys of the Junior Section, for the continued kindness you have shown us this BB session.

I am overwhelmed with the amount of donations that we have received from everyone. Like every other youth organisation, we all rely on funds to survive.

We have not managed to raise as much as usual over the past two years because of Covid 19, so our funds were rather depleted. Because of the kindness of our church friends, we have managed to give the boys a full programme this year. We visited Kelvingrove Art Galleries, a Pantomime, Halloween Party, and a "Nerf" night after New Year instead of a Christmas Party as Covid numbers were up at Christmas time, as well as our usual weekly sessions on a Friday night.

Sadly, we do not have enough boys to go to BB Camp but we hope this will change in the future.

Once again, I give my heartfelt thanks to everybody for their continuing support.

God bless you all.

Thank you, David and the boys.

Christmas 2021

The Anchor Boys had their Christmas party on 7 December. As you would expect, Santa put in an appearance and handed out lots of presents. The children were so excited!

The Junior Section went to the Panto on Friday 10 December to see a new panto (Robin Hood) very up-to-date in content but very good. The children were up on their feet booing, hissing and shouting at the baddy of course. We had 28 people in our group.

We are also having a Christmas party on 17 December for our last night but we will not have Santa as he's very busy with it being so close to Christmas.

Halloween!

The Anchor Section  had a Halloween party on Tuesday 26 October. As you will see from the photo, they all came dressed for the occasion.

The Junior Section also had their party on Friday 29 October with dookin' for apples, sticky donuts from a string etc. They also came dressed for the part.

Both sections had a ball stuffing their faces with pizza, sausage rolls, crisps and biscuits along with sweets they won for wonderful costumes and pumpkin competitions. Don't they all look amazing as well as S C A R Y!

October Outing

At the end of the school October holiday week, the boys and officers visited the Kelvingrove Art Galleries on Saturday 16 October.  The boys had a ball looking at all the exhibits. They were a bit overwhelmed with the amount there was to see; they could hardly believe the size of the organ and the Spitfire plane. All in all, they had a great day.

The boys do crafts, read bible stories, play games and have outdoor visits to the Police and Fire Stations.

Tea & Coffee

Each month, all the organisations involved in the Church take a turn to serve teas and coffees after the Sunday Morning Service.

The boys last turn was in February. All proceeds made were contributed towards Jr Section funds.
