AROUND KILSYTH

May 2021

The bluebell is the sweetest flower

That waves in summer air;

It's blossoms have the mightiest power

To soothe my spirit's care

April 2021

Almost at the end of April 2021!

How these past 14 months have flown past. We are so fortunate to have the beauty of the Colzium on our doorstep; there is always something new to see. The walled garden has magnificent specimens of acer and earlier in the year the variety of snowdrops and daffodils always help to keep us cheerful.

28 April 2021.

The bicentennial tree is beginning to blossom and along with the addition of daffodils here and in the peace garden, the church grounds are looking wonderful.

The walled garden at Colzium, always a pleasure to walk around especially on a nice spring morning. Saturday 10 April 2021.

Happy Easter 2021!

Here are some photographs taken around Kilsyth over the Easter weekend. The canal and the Colzium are always popular for walks, especially when we have had some lovely sunshine. Click on each individual photo to see in full. 5 April 2021.

March 2021

"Spring" is in the air - well the days are definitely getting longer but the temperature keeps changing from cold to warm and back to cold again! What is the saying "March comes in like a lamb and leaves like a lion - or vice versa"? - we will just have to wait and see.

Enjoy these photographs taken at the dam, the Colzium and the walled garden.

February 2021

Here we are in the last meteorogical week of winter! The snow has almost all disappeared and snowdrops are in full bloom at the Colzium; the days are definitely getting longer and a bit warmer. Also, some views from Nethercroy including the "Centurion" as well as the Colzium Burn in full spate. Remember to click on each photo to open fully.

Second week in February and Kilsyth is totally covered in snow - isn't it just beautiful? However, please be safe as it can be very icy underneath the snow. These photographs have possibly been on this page before but the snow makes everything look totally different - hopefully you enjoy them.

Here we are in February already, and good to hear that some people have already been immunised for the Coronavirus and others to be done later this month. Especially for those who can't get out, here are some local photographs taken along Coach Road, the frozen canal and a view up to Castle Hill (looks like a ski slope up there!). Remember to click on each photo to view fully.

January 2021

25 January 2021

Happy Burns Day everyone! It's another beautiful day - blue skies but very frosty. The swans at the quarry are walking on ice and the canal is partly frozen too. However, the days are getting longer and there are signs of spring in the air.

Click on each photograph to see it fully.

Welcome to 2021! Here are a few photographs around Kilsyth, taken on the second day of January 2021. The first is recognisable to everyone: the Bandstand in Burngreen. The next one is part of the golf course. The following week, icy weather over Kilsyth and the dam was frozen. The next two photographs were taken once the ice started to thaw (12 January). No matter the weather, the scenery around Kilsyth is always beautiful.
