JUNE FAYRE - 2010

Saturday 5TH June dawned exceptionally warm sunny.   The crowds flocked to this year's June Fayre.

We had all the usual stalls - Books, White Elephant, Fancy Goods, Lucky Dips, Surprise Bags, Cards, Bottle Stall, Home Baking Stall and so on.  A new addition this year was a bag with a picture of the Church on the front.

There was also a Hot Dog Stall, Tea Room serving home baking and a Strawberries and Ice Cream tent.

For the children there was Beat the Goalie, Transfers, the Frog Game, Bouncy Castle and not forgetting "Splat the Rat".  The Fire Engine also made a visit.

On the day the grand total was £3,067.00 raised in aid of Church funds.    This figure is still rising and now stands at around £3,700.00.

Grateful thanks goes to everyone taking part, whether it be helping out on the stalls or buying from them.

A HISTORY OF KILSYTH BURNS AND OLD PARISH CHURCH

A history of Kilsyth Burns and Old Parish Church, written by Bill Gracie, was dedicated at morning service on Sunday 14th September, 2008, after which copies were available in the large hall, with all proceeds going to church funds.

As well as the history of the churches the book contains chapters on local history, the growth of Kilsyth from hamlet to town, the spread of Christianity in Scotland and is well illustrated with pictures old and new.   The names of every minister ordained since 1560 are listed along with their periods of service.

Copies will be available at David Cant & Sons,
Main Street, Kilsyth or from Bill Gracie at 01236 823067 / billgracie@talktalk.net
